That’s a wrap for the DownUnder Travellers World Series: Spring Breakout, held at Redlands Baseball Club in Queensland!
Across seven days, athletes were given the chance to train, perform, and compete at the highest level — starting with our High Performance Camp, moving into the Prospect Showcase, and finishing with an unforgettable four-day tournament.
The High Performance Camp set the tone, with three days of elite instruction led by Darren Bragg, who brought more than a decade of Major League Baseball playing experience and another ten years as a professional player development coordinator. Joined by MLB scout Greg Morris, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jackson Grounds, and DownUnder Travellers coach Lachlan Jones, players were pushed through advanced work in hitting, fielding, positional play, strength and conditioning, arm care, base running, mental skills, and off-field preparation. The camp focused on professional standards and accountability, with every athlete encouraged to approach the game as future college and pro players do.
From there, the Prospect Showcase gave our most talented athletes a platform to perform in front of college recruiters and professional scouts. Each participant was measured, tested, and evaluated across tools and gameplay, giving them exposure to pathways beyond Australia. Scouts both in attendance and watching from abroad provided positive feedback and noted several new names to follow closely. For many players, it was their first step into the spotlight of international baseball.
Finally, the four-day tournament capped things off in style. With teams representing every Australian state, plus New Zealand and players from Queensland’s 16U program, the level of competition was outstanding. Each team played six round-robin games before finals, all under perfect blue skies and warm Queensland weather. The Juniors crown went to Travellers Blue, while the Seniors title was claimed by Travellers Purple — two squads that showed resilience, teamwork, and consistency all week.
We were fortunate to have MLB scouts in attendance, alongside many more following updates online. The depth of talent was clear, and the feedback we’ve received reflects the growing standard of Australian baseball.
