Phil Overlack

Phil Overlack is a seasoned baseball coach from Brisbane, Queensland, with over 30 years of experience in the sport. Starting his playing career at the age of 14 with the Runcorn Indians, Phil went on to play nine seasons in the original Australian Baseball League with the Gold Coast Dolphins/Cougars.

Transitioning into coaching, Phil became the head coach of the Redcliffe Padres A-Grade team in 2015, leading the team through a significant rebuilding phase. Under his guidance, the Padres progressed from finishing last in the competition to narrowly missing out on the playoffs in recent seasons. 

Phil’s commitment to player development is evident through his role as the head coach of the Queensland U16 team at the Australian Youth Championships, where he led the team to a gold medal.  Additionally, he has served as the manager for the Queensland U16 team, bringing a wealth of experience in managing teams in competitive environments. 

In 2024, Phil expanded his coaching horizons internationally with the DownUnder Travellers team in Puerto Rico. His leadership was instrumental in providing Australian players with valuable international experience. 

Phil’s coaching philosophy emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and creating opportunities for players to reach their full potential. His extensive experience and dedication to the sport make him a respected figure in the Australian baseball community.
