CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR LATEST DUT LACHLAN JONES TO COMMIT TO USA COLLEGE!!!

Please join us in congratulating Lachlan Jones from Newcastle, New South Wales who is our latest DownUnder Traveller athlete to verbally commit to playing college baseball in America.

Lachlan, who plays in the Catcher position, chose to commit to McCook College after speaking to the Head Coach as he distinguished himself as a Catching coach. Lachlan is keen to advance his skills as a Catcher and was interested in learning about a new and modern style of catching that the Head Coach teaches at McCook College. Lachlan also said, “Another reason why I chose McCook College is that they have a college transfer program that has seen a large number of its students transfer into high level programs. This is something that I would like to do.”

Playing baseball for the past 13 years, Lachlan said, “Baseball has been apart of my life from a very young age. It has taught me many life lessons surrounding failure, resilience and ability to overcome challenges as baseball is a game where you may fail more often than you succeed, providing only a few opportunities each game to make an impact.

After contacting the DownUnder Travellers, Lachlan was provided with the opportunity to discuss the McCook College baseball program saying, “Within a few days of joining the DownUnder Travellers Program, I was placed in contact with a McCook College coach - which in turn is the College that I have committed to. The process through the DownUnder Travellers was enjoyable as they made the difficult process of college recruitment easier to understand and they provided support throughout the entire process.”

For players wanting to work toward a future in baseball he said, “A pathway to college baseball can be very long and often confusing with every individual’s path being different. Signing on to the DownUnder Travellers Program helped me tremendously, so contacting them would be my biggest recommendation to anyone wanting to go to college.”
